Five sets of tees between 4,700 and 6,900 yards set the stage for an intriguing journey through unforgiving wetlands Golf Digest’s Places to Play has given a 4-star rating. The challenge is to navigate a course that has water on 16 of the 18 holes, and forced carries over marshes on the other two. But before that little truism scares you off, a little secret the members learn early on is that the landing areas are wider than they look from the tees. Poselthwait may have saved his best for last. The 439-yard-from-the-tips 18th has water that runs left off the tee, turning across the landing area, flowing into a lagoon along the right side of the fairway. Once you’ve played over and around the water, and the moguls that frame the opposite side, there’s still an enormous bunker guarding a long, narrow green. After you play it, you’ll likely agree with the critics that put #18 in most every list of the Jacksonville-areas top 18 holes.
The friendly, knowledgeable staff at Cimarrone, from the course hosts to the event planners and catering staff will exceed the expectations of your group of 4 to 144. Besides a restaurant and full kitchen facilities in a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse, the practice area has separate putting and chipping greens and 30-person tee. Call |
