World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Championship Begins This Weekend

World Golf Hall of Fame Putting ChampionshipIf you think your roll is better than most, grab your flat stick and head to Northeast Florida.

This weekend The World Golf Hall of Fame at World Golf Village is holding one of two qualifying sessions for its 6th sixth-annual Putting Championship. The eight competitors from this weekend and next who post the lowest scores will receive prizes and compete for the title of "World Golf Hall of Fame Amateur Putting Champion."

The competition is open to all golfers in Northeast Florida,and qualifying runs from 10 a.m. through noon on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend and next. The event will be held at the World Golf Hall of Fame IMAX Theater at World Golf Village, which can be found off exit 323 on Interstate 95.

Resigstration for amateurs is $35. Competitiors are encouraged to call ahead to participate. Either call (904) 940-4010 or visit the April events calendar at www.wgv.com . Day-of registrations will also be accepted.

All amateur entrants will take home a gift bag, in addition to receiving a practice round on the putting course, admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame, lunch at Fairways Cafe on the day of qualifying and various discounts on other items.

New in 2009 is a Pro Division, a one-day, stroke play event to take place Sunday, May 3rd, beginning at 12 p.m. There will be cash prizes for the lowest three scores posted and the total purse will begin at $1,000, increasing based up participation. Registration for the pro division is $15.
