Hidden Hills Country Club occupies the highest point on the map in the Greater Jacksonville area, but that’s not the only unique aspect of the historic facility. From 1970-72 the club was home to the Greater Jacksonville Open, precursor to the modern day PLAYERS Championship, one of richest tournaments in professional golf. The course is also located next door to the Ribault Monument, which commemorates France’s early attempt at colonizing the area, only to be driven off by the Spanish.

“It’s a classic Palmer course with lots of elevation changes, curves and contours in the fairways and quite a few holes where the best decision is to leave your driver in the bag,” Hopkins said. “You never really get tired of playing Hidden Hills because it requires such a variety of shots. Our greens are mostly elevated, so if you are going to get on the green, you’ll have to do it through the air. That is what makes it one of the most challenging courses in Florida.”
